Revisión documental de las características y tipos de cubrebocas como barreras protectoras contra virus

Resumen
Introducción: El cubrebocas, también conocido como mascarilla, se ha vuelto una de las medidas sanitarias más discutidas entre la población debido a la pandemia. La gran diversidad de opciones hace que la elección de un cubrebocas resulte una tarea difícil, más cuando la seguridad es la principal preocupación.
Objetivo: Realizar una revisión de artículos científicos y de normatividades disponibles sobre las características de los cubrebocas.
Métodogía: Se realizó una revisión de la literatura. Para este objetivo se utilizó la base de datos de Google Scholar en inglés con restricción de años de publicación en un intervalo entre 2006 a 2021, se incluyeron solamente artículos científicos de investigación o de revisión.
Resultados: A pesar de la importancia actual que tiene este tema, son pocos los estudios que abordan y prueban la eficacia real de los cubrebocas, esto aunado a la gran diversidad de opciones que puede hacer que la elección de un cubrebocas resulte en una tarea complicada. En este trabajo se analizaron ocho artículos que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión.
Conclusión: Los materiales usados y el número de capas son factores importantes para la efectividad del cubrebocas. Entre otros factores también se encuentran el ajuste y uso adecuado, así como la carga viral en el medio ambiente.
